Mark and Kerry Reynolds knew precisely who to contact for kitchen design when renovating the 1930s villa they had bought in Tilford, Surrey. After all, Jerry Craven at Hampshire Kitchens Limited had already designed three kitchens for them in the past.
“We entertain a lot and I love the fact that you are part of the conversation here, not isolated. I think that’s what most people are looking for these days.
Simplicity was the key for their large family room. There are three distinct areas: the kitchen, the family dining space and a relaxed hang-out with TV and sofas. It was the room that Mark, Kerry and their two grown up children would use most frequently, so it had to be fun, welcoming and not at all fussy.
They chose ALNOARTPRO in black and magnolia white. The spacious island and breakfast bar features a Neff induction hob and is backed by a tall wall of units housing fridge, freezer and ovens
As they do a lot of entertaining, there are two of everything – identical Neff fridges, dishwashers, and ovens along with two Liebherr IG1956 freezers. The clean lines are maintained by the choice of a Caple downdraft extractor which retracts into the island when not in use.
To create additional variety, Jerry specified two different worksurfaces: an extra-thick palladian black Corian for the sink unit and black Stellar Silestone Quartz for the island.
Hampshire Kitchens Limited also designed and installed the Karndean flooring across the entire space. In such a naturally bright room, the oak floor brings out the colour of the furniture without darkening the overall effect.
With ten acres to tend and a business to run, Mark and Kerry are delighted that, at the end of a hard day, they can relax in comfort in their simply beautiful family room.
“We just wanted something really simple; it’s the room that’s used most in the house, all the day to day eating is done here. Everyone piles in here.”
